    Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a Senior Information Management Specialist to join one of our clients located in Ottawa


    Reporting to the Director, Information Management and Technology, this position is responsible for the establishment and alignment of Information Management strategy within the organization. This role provides an advisory role
    to drive the enterprise towards an overarching data architecture vision that include data security policies, practices and processes.

    The incumbent will apply advanced knowledge in data systems technologies and experience to provide transformational solutions. This will include data movement, enhancement, integration, quality, and availability of data throughout the enterprise. The ideal candidate will lead the design, development, and establishment of standards as it relates to data. The role will also be responsible for improving consistency, timeliness, quality, and security. The position will cover the full scope of large-scale data implementations including in-house and public cloud environments.


    Roles and Responsibilities

    Strategy & Planning
    • Participate in the planning and design of the enterprise Information Management that include technical solutions architect, data security and Information Lifecycle Management.
    • Provides strategic technical consultation to the business and IT leaders.
    • Create short-term tactical solutions to achieve long-term objectives and an overall data management roadmap.
    • Lead the identification and classification of existing enterprise data sets to produce a comprehensive data architecture map with clearly mapped data interdependencies.
    • Provide direction around the adoption of a future state data housing.
    • Participate in the planning and design of the enterprise Cyber Security program and architecture including the creation of the enterprise security documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines, and procedures).


    Acquisition & Deployment
    • Work with the business units to understand their requirements and help them with implementing technical solutions to improve and optimize their operations.
    • Develop the creation of data roadmap that embraces the use of third party cloud infrastructure including data migration plans.
    • Recommend additional security solutions or enhancements to existing security solutions to improve overall enterprise data security.

    Operational Management
    • Oversee and conduct data audits to ensure compliance and address potential issues proactively.
    • Lead or participate in the enterprise Information and Data projects.
    • Develop processes to ensure Information shared with partners/suppliers is in alignment with all requirements, protocols, and codes pertaining to sensitive data.
    • Develop and promote data management methodologies and standards.
    • Collaborate with the project managers and business unit leaders for all projects involving enterprise data.
    • Document the data architecture and environment in order to maintain a current and accurate view of the larger data picture.
    • Consult with the technology project teams to fit projects to enterprise architecture, as well as to identify when it is necessary to modify the enterprise data architecture.
    • Advise on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities.
    • Ensure that data strategies and architectures are in regulatory compliance.
    • Oversee the operational configurations of all in-place security solutions as per the established baselines.
    • Participate in investigations in Cyber Security incidents.
    • Participate in the Information and Data Security Governance.


    • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Commerce, Science or related discipline or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or recognized experience.
    • 8 - 10 years’ experience as an Information Management Specialist, or equivalent, with demonstrable ability to design, implement, and support data strategy and roadmaps.
    • Experience with managing enterprise-wide IT projects related to Information Management and technical solutions architect.
    • Experience supporting the identification and classification of existing enterprise data sets to produce a comprehensive data architecture map with clearly mapped data inter-dependencies.
    • Knowledge of legislation, policies and directives in order to interpret policy and ensure corporate compliance to legislative requirements in IT, security and operational administration.
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Experience in presenting to and working with business units at all levels.
    • Proficiency in both official languages is highly desirable.
