Maplesoft Group is currently seeking an Intermediate Business Analyst to join one of our clients located in Ottawa

The Intermediate Business Analyst  is required to assist in determining functional and systems requirements for the Software Development/Reengineering Team. The analyst will elicit and document business and system requirements of corporate members, administrative management and staff, and others, to assist the software development team design an Entrada-based system solution.

Responsibilities include:
- Review existing research documentation. Analyse business activities and processes.
- Document business context, scope, and background, including reasons for change.
- Perform gap analysis on current systems and desired solutions.
- Document current state (AS IS) business environment, system solutions, workflow processes, flowcharts, issues, etc. Conduct additional AS IS research through interviews and workshops.
- Identify key business stakeholders that have TO BE requirements.
- Determine business process and system improvements through analysis and workshops with employees.
- Determine success factors for a TO BE state. Identify constraints imposed by the business or current systems.
- Develop business process models and analysis using flowchart notations to depict TO BE processes.
- Develop ‘use cases’ for what users want in a new software solution, how they will use it and the business rules governing those activities.
- Create wireframes and mock-ups. Design logical data models and data dictionary references, and data flow diagrams to illustrate how data flows through the information systems (different from flowcharts depicting algorithmic flow of business activities).
- Determine software acceptance criteria.

Skills:

• University degree in computer science, in business administration, information technology or related field;
• Minimum of five years of related experience in supporting business units and their information technology needs;
• Experience in project management, including managing interdisciplinary teams, managing multi-year projects that involve cross-functional systems, creating estimates (timeframes, budgets, resources, etc.), as well as creating process workflow/information flow maps   and performing risk analyses and proposing risk mitigation strategies;
• Experience in using project management methodologies, systems, techniques and industry standards and best  practices;
• Experience in customer service to act as a resource person, to evaluate customer needs, communicate technical concepts in a non-technical manner and to convert clients business requirements into technical specifications;
• Experience performing analysis and evaluations of business process, identifying needs, providing recommendations, preparing functional requirement documents and project managing implementation initiatives;
• Ability to interact with senior management for strategic issues;
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, under pressure and with very firm deadlines;
• Advanced interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients, project management team and technical resources;
• Excellent analytical, organizational and priority-management skills.
