Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a Network Operations Analyst to join one of our clients located in Calgary.
 
The analyst network operations provides level 1 support to internal users for network related incidents.  The role also includes network monitoring using Solarwinds for events triggered based on threshold’s set.  This role is 7/24 and does require evening and weekend coverage.  This is shift work.  8 hours on days, 2 hours on nights and weekends.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• LAN, WAN, Internet, Fiber service monitoring and operations including:
• Responsible for 7X24 operational support for LAN, WAN, Internet, and Fiber services;
• Responds to all LAN/WAN/Internet/Fiber service outages;
• Provides timely corrective actions on all LAN/WAN/Internet/Fiber service outages as required and takes overall accountability for all Severity 3 (Level 1) service incidents;
• Engages Network Operations team for all Sev 1/Sev 2 (ie Level 2/3) on all LAN/WAN/Internet/Fiber service incidents;
• Consults with Network Operations, and Telecom Architecture &  Design teams as required in order to resolve incidents in a timely manner;
• Engages selected internal/external telecommunications vendors/service providers to ensure and/or restore LAN/WAN/Internet/Fiber services;
• Supports a consistent process to ensure timely maintenance of LAN/WAN/Internet/Fiber services;
• Understands, analyzes and evaluates all Severity 3 (Level 1) LAN/WAN/Internet/Fiber service incidents through troubleshooting & knowledge management;
• Collaborates with other internal/external service stakeholders for service related issues and provides proactive Disaster Recovery;
• Participates in 7X24X365 shift rotation for the support of the LAN, WAN, Internet, and Fiber services;
• Supports Network Operations + Telecom Architecture & Design by identifying any chronic and/or problematic issues/processes/procedures related to LAN/WAN/Internet/Fiber services;
 
The Requirements:
- Working knowledge of the LAN (wireline/wireless), WAN, and Internet services;
- Working knowledge in information management concepts, with working knowledge of LAN/WAN/Internet/Fiber services;
- Working knowledge of how departments interact with one another;
- Working knowledge of how LAN/WAN/Internet/Fiber services, interact/relate to each other and with VoIP, and Voice Networks infrastructure;
- Diploma from a relevant Technical Institution, or 5+ years of applicable experience;
- Cisco certification desired (CCNA, CCNP);
- Working knowledge of LAN (wireline/wireless), WAN, Internet, and Fiber services;
- Working experience and proven ability to troubleshoot with end users & vendor on LAN, WAN, Internet, and Fiber services;
- Working knowledge and ability to triage services issues and be able to proactively initiate restoration solutions;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to interact with various levels of management;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various levels of management, staff, and customers;
- Strong communication;
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team;
- Adapt and overcome challenges;
- Influence and persuasion.
