Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to join one of our clients located in Edmonton

The Economy and Growth Sector IMT team has a requirement for a Project Manager.  The primary role has the overall responsibility to initiate, plan, execute, control/monitor, close and perform post-implementation activities for a variety of Sector project initiatives as well as the creation of supporting project documentation as per the guidelines of Project Management Office (PMO).

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, the following:
• Collaborate with a Department’s portfolio/program area, and its IT team as applicable, to develop a well-defined project plan that clearly states the project’s objectives, scope, assumptions, timeline, resource requirements, risks, benefits and budget.
• Work with the Sector Portfolio Delivery Manager to complete financial reporting and demonstrate accountability for working within project budget.
• Ensure focus on the necessary execution elements of business process change, improvement and technical and operational excellence.
• Take responsibility for ongoing client satisfaction – manage peer-level client relationships (expectations, communications, negotiations, escalation, feedback, etc.).
• Collaborate with the sector’s portfolio/program area, and its IT team as applicable, to manage the services of the portfolio to manage and maintain the releases using DevOps and iterative methodology.
• Collaborate with the sector’s portfolio/program area, and its IT team as applicable, to develop artifacts required as per PMO and portfolio delivery services, identifying benefits and performance measure indicators.
• Work with project sponsors to develop a project organization structure with clearly defined roles and responsibilities for committees, teams and project team members and to ensure the roles are appropriately resourced.
• Lead and/or attend regularly scheduled steering committee, working committee and status meetings throughout the project life cycle. Document and report project status against established objectives, milestones, budget and resources. Facilitate closure of issues  that cannot be resolved by project teams;
• Develop and maintain a project work schedule with activities, timelines, critical paths and resource requirements. Manage all activities against the project work schedule for the project duration. Review assigned tasks according to work plans with responsible team  members;
• Monitor project status against the plan, identifying and managing variances via the project governance structure. Proactively monitor project progress and implement mechanisms, such as change control, to keep the project on track;
• In collaboration with project sponsors and, assess whether the project achieved stated outcomes. Identify what changes can improve the implementation process and outcome of future projects that are similar.
• Assist with the documentation and/or translation of high level and detailed business and functional requirements from a broad community of stakeholders.;
• Lead and/or assist in developing, reviewing and updating of project deliverables, including but not limited to :
 o feasibility studies;
 o use case, business, process, data, physical  and/or other models;
 o business requirements;
 o stakeholder assessment ;
 o functional requirements;
 o non-functional requirements;
 o technical requirements;
 o Incident management;
 o Root-cause analysis;
 o Service request management;
 o operational requirements; and/or
 o work plans.
• Analyze gaps between requirements and available solutions, document results of analysis in appropriate format including business rules, workflow descriptions, data definitions, test plans and test cases;
• Represent corporate and project interests in developing and maintaining strong client relations;
• Document initiative/project backgrounds, descriptions, environmental analyses, alternatives, impacts, risks, cost-benefit analyses, recommendations, implementation strategies, and approval processes.
• Additional responsibilities as required by the Manager/supervisor.
