    Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a Test Lead to join one of our Federal Government clients located in Ottawa.

    • The Test Lead service provider is responsible for leading/managing the testing lifecycle for one or more complex cross functional projects in the area of IT infrastructure. This will include work on compute and storage, data and voice networks, endpoint computing, identity and access management, public cloud infrastructure and security. The work would support the multi-year enterprise-wide transformation of the client's IT infrastructure. The service provider will be responsible for test strategy development, test execution, and managing the development and execution of testing deliverables across multiple technology teams. 

    • The Test Lead service provider will interface with other test staff and test automation specialists, with technical product owners, with supporting vendors/service providers, and with various project teams to assess testing needs for the project, analyze and interpret test results, establish and review metrics and communicate results and recommendations to a technical and business audience. 

    • The Test Lead service provider must be a natural born leader who possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to easily articulate the value of testing (and the types of testing) to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    • The Test Lead service provider must have experience testing in an Agile/DevOps environment.  The Test Lead must foster a collaborative team environment by facilitating communication between multiple teams and ensuring that the tests performed by the testers spread in different teams are of similar quality.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Coordinate and devise software testing project deliverables, including test strategy, detailed test plan/approach, test cases, test results summary and defect management tracking and resolution

    • Coordinate or develop test requirements as required and perform gap analysis between technical design specifications and business requirements

    • Provide feedback on feature specification and design based on customer requirements

    • Signoff on feature set based on customer requirements and product exit criteria

    • Consult with product development team and business analyst to evaluate system interfaces, operational requirements, and performance requirements of overall system

    • Review product design documentation to ensure that requirements stated are correct, unambiguous, and verifiable

    • Apply risk-based testing to projects and report risk assessment back to technical leadership; identifying, analyzing and responding to project risks as necessary

    • Work closely with the Technical Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Program Manager to estimate and plan project testing schedules, workload and testing resource capacity

    • Define test methods and create test plans to determine if the products will perform accurately and reliably according to documented requirements as well as established standards under both normal and abnormal conditions

    • Generate test cases to ensure that all functional requirements of a system are captured during the product design phase

    • Execute test plans and create test reports to describe program evaluation, testing, and correction

    • Perform defect reporting and provide product feedback based on customer requirements

    • Provide team leadership; and train, coach and mentor other members of test teams

    • Maintain effective communication with the project software developers and business analysts on project limitation, capability, and potential performance impacts

    • Interact and adapt to Client and Partner requirements; managing changes to the test regime as necessary

    Specific Project Requirements

    • AGILE/Kanban Product development experience

    • DevOps Testing experience

    • Experience using Azure DevOps (ADO) or similar for the development of test cases

    • Experience using a ticketing system (Cherwell, ServiceNow, etc.) to manage defects

    • Experience Leading a team of testers

    • Experience communicating test defects to 3rd party vendors

    • Experience testing some or all of the types of IT infrastructure listed above

    Skills

    Top Skills Required:

    • Knowledge of and experience with testing of IT infrastructure (Networks, Servers, operating systems, desktop management, etc.)

    • Requirements analysis, and test strategy and plan development

    • Enterprise test co-ordination

    • Ability to understand business/technical requirements

    • Bug reporting & tracking tools
