Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a hybrid Small Market Group Benefits Manager with Third-Party Administrator Experience for our client.

Position Summary:
The Group Benefits Manager is responsible for the end-to-end administration, implementation, and ongoing servicing of group benefit plans for assigned clients. This role acts as a senior subject-matter expert and primary escalation point for clients, advisors, insurers, and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings strong Third-Party Administrator (TPA) experience, a deep understanding of group benefits administration, and the ability to manage complex client portfolios with accuracy, professionalism, and accountability.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring operational excellence, client satisfaction, and compliance across all aspects of group benefits delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
Client Servicing & Plan Administration
• Act as a senior point of contact for assigned clients, benefits advisors, and insurer partners, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery.
• Manage full-cycle group benefits administration, including:
o New hire enrollments and plan member onboarding
o Employee terminations and coverage changes
o Life event changes (marriage, dependents, status changes)
o Salary updates impacting benefit calculations
o Eligibility tracking and maintenance
• Oversee premium billing processes, including reconciliation, variance investigation, and billing adjustments.
• Interpret and apply plan design provisions, insurer contracts, administrative services agreements, and internal policies to ensure accurate and compliant processing.
• Handle escalated claims inquiries and complex service issues, working closely with insurers and internal teams to achieve timely resolution.
• Prepare and support ongoing reporting requirements, renewals, audits, and compliance reviews.
• Maintain accurate client records and documentation, ensuring data integrity across systems.
• Proactively identify risks, trends, or service gaps and recommend solutions to improve the client experience
Group Implementations & Transitions
• Lead and support the onboarding and implementation of new and existing group benefits clients, including:
o Data collection and validation
o File setup and system configuration
o Carrier coordination and policy issuance
o Plan setup and eligibility rules
• Collaborate with internal teams (operations, technology, finance, advisors, and service teams) to ensure seamless client transitions and adherence to implementation timelines.
• Manage implementation project plans, tracking milestones, risks, and dependencies.
• Coordinate and support client orientation sessions, system demonstrations, and administrator training.
• Ensure accurate documentation handovers and readiness for post-implementation servicing.
Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and internal partners by providing guidance on plan administration best practices.
• Support and mentor junior team members by sharing expertise and reinforcing service standards.
• Liaise with insurance carriers to resolve escalated issues, monitor service level agreements, and coordinate ongoing operational requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on process efficiency, automation, and service quality.

Required Qualifications:
• 5+ years of progressive experience in group benefits administration, preferably within a TPA, benefits consulting, or insurance environment.
• Strong working knowledge of group benefits plans, including health, dental, life, disability, and ancillary benefits.
• Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and complex benefit plan structures.
• Proven ability to interpret contracts, plan texts, and insurer policies.
• Experience leading or supporting group benefits implementations and transitions.
• Familiarity with benefits administration systems and data management processes.
• The ideal candidate can manage teams well, provide guidance, create something from nothing, focus on documentation and be that support for their teams.
