    Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a Project Manager to join one of our Federal Government clients located in National Capital Region.

    The following responsibilities are associated with the “Statement of Work” but are not
    limited to:

    • Responsible for the research and analysis that supports the evolution of technology with a view toward continuous improvement of business processes and data integrity by applying appropriate technology to solve business problems and translate into actionable business requirements;

    • Identify and document business vision, strategies, objectives and drivers;

    • Lead and facilitate business and technology leaders to refine functional strategy, create technology roadmaps and translate business roadmaps into specific capabilities and features that align with business goals and objectives;

    • Influence the development of business strategies and support the implementation of key strategic initiatives working closely with business stakeholders;

    • Support the identification of opportunities to drive change in current business processes in order to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and improve effectiveness;

    • Work with lines of business on project planning, identifying solutions, and documenting current and target environments;

    • Translate concepts into actionable plans;

    • Develop business and project management documentation such as:

    Treasury Board submissions (PPA & EPA);
    Project charter;
    Mission/vision statement;
    Business proposal;
    Business case.
    • Analyze business implications of the application of technology to current business environment(s);

    • Articulate complexity in simple terms to facilitate quick understanding and decision making from project stakeholders;

    • Bridge the gap between non-technical stakeholders and internal technical teams;

    • Ensure requirements are captured accurately and completely;

    • Establish and monitor project requirements, priorities, and deadlines;

    • Support the full project lifecycle from initial concept through to delivery, ensuring that changes meet the true business need at all times;

    • Direct activities to ensure high quality results within defined time and budget schedules;

    • Coordinate activities among project team members, cross functional teams, suppliers and clients to meet project objectives and ensure completion of project deliverables, on schedule and within budget constraints;

    • Develop, manage and control project timelines/schedules and resources;

    • Ensures timely completion of the project within the approved budget by comparing actual progress to a baseline plan and identifies corrective actions;

    • Participate in Stage-Gate reviews and present current stage accomplishments, the plan and costs for the next stage;

    • Work closely with the business client, managing their expectations during each stage of the project life cycle;

    • Use common project vision to motivate project stakeholders, and limiting relying on direct control to achieve objectives;

    • Conduct regular retrospectives and process reviews to identify improvement opportunities;

    • When dealing with missed commitments, focus the team on solving the problem while holding stakeholders accountable in a manner that is conducive to teamwork and sense of common vision;

    • Identify and manage risks, issues and activity progress to ensure project objectives are achieved;

    • Manage project risks with necessary mitigation, escalation and backup plans and communicate status to various governance oversight committees;

    • Plan and execute effective change management programs to ensure business acceptance and user effectiveness with the solutions delivered and ensure technology investments align with transformation imperatives;

    • Recognize conflict when it is occurring, and identifies its sources and effects;

    • Collaborate with other parties to achieve a win/win solution with the end goal in mind;

    • Manage conflict in respectful manner by taking emotion out of the problem;

    • Use good judgment on when to escalate the issues to senior management and when to work through issues with the project team;

    • Utilize escalation channels wisely avoiding over and under-escalation;

    • Develop and execute a communication plan to ensure all impacted parties (upstream/downstream) are informed of project progress;

    • Stay current with client needs and strategies; utilizing formal and informal written communication methods (for example, emails, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, executive updates, task lists, updates) to communicate updates and findings; and facilitating project meetings and presentations to all types of diverse audiences (for example, senior management, business clients, technical staff, etc.);

    • Produce meeting minutes to clearly convey major developments, action items, and risks;

    • Make presentations to management on project updates, project cycle, and expected results;

    • Generate project status reports and manage expectations as agreed upon by all stakeholders;

    • Ensure project closure including completion of lessons learned and required documentation; and

    • Other tasks and deliverables as required.
