    Maplesoft Group is currently seeking an Application/Software Architect (Onsite) for our Federal Government client.

    Tasks and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
     
    General tasks:

    • Participate in daily stand-ups to provide status updates on completed work, planned work and 
    impediments.
    • Administer highly available on-premise Splunk Enterprise clusters used by hundreds of users.
    • Plan, test and deploy upgrades to Splunk Enterprise clusters, premium applications and 
    Splunkbase apps in order to ensure all components of the Splunk platform are kept fully up to 
    date. For instance at a high-level, the steps would include:
    o Phase 1: Identify, back up, and verify that components are functional
    o Phase 2: Install updated Splunk Enterprise components
    o Phase 3: Confirm everything works post-upgrade
    • Monitor Splunk Enterprise clusters and underlying infrastructure using real-time logs, metrics 
    and alerting.
    • Harden Splunk Enterprise clusters by ensuring access controls and configuration options are 
    secure, properly managing credentials and implementing the principle of least privilege.
    • Onboard new sources of data from IT infrastructure components, systems and applications and 
    implement integrations upon request from client teams and product owners.
    • Undertake day-to-day operational and user support in order to meet the defined service level 
    objectives (SLOs), as defined by:
    o The system is available 99.0% of the time, as measured on a 30-day rolling window. The 
    system is considered available if clients are able to login to their account and initiate 
    searches and data is being indexed at a normal rate. Unscheduled, emergency 
    maintenance or an emergency caused by factors outside the team's control are 
    excluded from this SLO.
    • Manage user accounts, service accounts and role-based access controls (RBAC) to appropriately 
    restrict access to Splunk and various subsets of the data it contains.
    • Provide advice and recommendations on architectural and system changes to further improve 
    its resilience, availability or data ingestion throughput.
    • Maintain documentation and architectural diagrams for the entire system to ensure knowledge 
    transfer.
    • Build dashboards, reports and advanced searches and visualizations occasionally upon request.
