    Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a BI/SQL Consultant for our Federal Government client.

    Tasks and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    Responsibilities:

    Reporting to the Manager, Program Innovation and Reporting, the Documentation 
    Specialist will be responsible for several tasks including but not limited to:

    1. Review existing BI Reports
    a) Analyse existing SQL queries, ETL scripts, stored procedures, and BI tool 
    calculations to identify underlying business rules and logic of specific Operational 
    KPIs and BI reports;
    b) Identify key dependencies, calculations, and transformations embedded in the 
    queries and reports.
    2. Document Business Logic and KPI calculations
    Create clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation that explains the logic behind 
    each KPI, including:
    a) Translate BI, SQL and/or ETL logic into clear, user-friendly language for non-technical audiences; 
    b) Develop clear documentation for existing BI reports and dashboards to help end 
    users interpret data correctly including:
    i) Purpose and business context of the KPI
    ii) Data sources, calculations, and transformations used.
    iii) Assumptions, limitations, and edge cases.
    iv) Mapping of technical logic to business requirements
    3. Standardize Documentation
    a) Develop standardized templates and guidelines for consistent documentation of 
    new BI reports.
    b) Ensure documentation is version-controlled and easily maintainable.
    4. Collaborate with Stakeholders
    a) Meet with stakeholders to gather information on required deliverables and 
    document processes; 
    b) Work with data analysts, BI developers, and business stakeholders to validate the 
    accuracy of documented logic.
    c) Incorporate feedback to refine and improve documentation.
    5. Knowledge Transfer
    a) Train relevant team members on how to use and maintain the documentation.
    b) Provide recommendations for improving query/report design to enhance clarity 
    and maintainability
    6. Reporting
    Provide weekly progress reports.
    7. Other
    Any other related activities or sub-projects, assigned at the discretion of the Manager, Program Innovation and Reporting.
    8. Deliverables
    a) Comprehensive documentation for all reviewed SQL queries and BI reports, 
    including:
    i) Detailed explanations of KPI logic in both technical and business terms.
    ii) Visual aids (e.g., flowcharts, data flow diagrams) where applicable.
    iii) Approximately 10-15 KPIs/reports, dependent on complexity of reports.
    b) Standardized documentation templates and guidelines.
    c) A centralized repository for storing and accessing documentation.
    d) Training materials for stakeholders on using and maintaining the documentation.
    e) A final report summarizing findings, recommendations, and any identified gaps in 
    existing queries/reports.
    f) Additional KPIs and reports as required, to be identified as part of any Option 
    Term(s) at client's sole discretion.
