Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a Tech Lead – Network Infrastructure & Security Operations for our client.
Tasks and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Network Security & Infrastructure Advisor to evaluate and guide the evolution of their enterprise network and security posture. This role plays a key part in ensuring that their network infrastructure is secure, resilient, and aligned with operational and business goals. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise to assess not only the technological components of the network architecture but also the structure, efficiency, and readiness of the teams responsible for supporting and operating it. This is a hands-on advisory role focused on driving improvements, shaping standards, and influencing infrastructure outcomes across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Network & Security Architecture Assessment
• Evaluate current network and security architectures for effectiveness, scalability, and alignment with best practices.
• Identify design flaws, security gaps, performance bottlenecks, and opportunities for modernization.
• Provide expert recommendations on improvements to topology, segmentation, firewall policies, and access control.
Technical Advisory & Guidance
• Serve as a trusted advisor to IT leadership, infrastructure teams, and security operations on network and security-related matters.
• Translate business and operational needs into actionable technical recommendations and solution options.
• Guide decision-making around technology selection, deployment strategies, and risk mitigation. Infrastructure & Support Model Review
• Assess the structure and effectiveness of the teams supporting network infrastructure (e.g., NOC, telecom, firewall admins).
• Identify skill gaps, process inefficiencies, or resource misalignments that may impact performance or security posture. • Recommend improvements to team structure, roles/responsibilities, and operational workflows.
Roadmap Input & Strategic Alignment
• Contribute to the development of infrastructure and security roadmaps by identifying priorities and sequencing technical initiatives.
• Ensure architectural decisions support scalability, resilience, and compliance with security frameworks. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with infrastructure & operations, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and technology solutions to ensure cohesive and secure designs.
• Support architectural reviews, design workshops, and root cause analyses with a focus on security and reliability. Innovation & Technology Evaluation
• Monitor emerging trends and technologies in network architecture, threat prevention, and automation.
• In collaboration with cybersecurity team, evaluate tools and platforms (e.g., SASE, SD-WAN, ZTNA, NDR) for potential adoption and integration.
• Promote the use of automation, observability, and infrastructure-as-code to improve agility and control.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in IT network infrastructure and security operations, with at least 3 years in a senior strategic or advisory role.
• Proven experience assessing and designing secure, scalable network environments (on-prem, hybrid, and cloud).
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical environments and support teams from both architectural and operational perspectives.
• Advanced knowledge of enterprise networking, including routing/switching (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), LAN/WAN design, QoS, and VoIP.
• Strong expertise in network security technologies, including VPNs, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention (IDS/IPS), access control, and secure network design.
• Practical experience with enterprise security solutions (Fortinet, Cisco Firepower, ISE, and VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL VPN, DMVPN) and wireless design and implementation (802.11, WLC, APs, site surveys, security hardening).
• Demonstrated ability to design and review secure network architectures aligned with industry best practices and enterprise standards.
• Deep understanding of network IOS security features, firewall policies, and segmentation strategies.
• Experience integrating voice, data, and video traffic into a cohesive and secure infrastructure.
• Familiarity with network management and monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, ThousandEyes, Wireshark).
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Preferred Attributes:
