    Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a Proposal/Technical Writer for our client.

    Tasks and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    JOB SUMMARY 
    The Proposal/Technical Writer is responsible to lead and manage the development of responses to formal Request for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Information (RFIs), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) and unsolicited proposals for government departments and agencies (federal, provincial and regional/municipal) (B2G) and private enterprises (B2B). 
    The Proposal/Technical Writer will work with a cross-functional team comprised of account executives and subject matter experts, including with joint venture partners, to respond to such proposal requests. 
    To excel in this role, the Proposal/Technical Writer must have experience with responding to solicitations, and be able to translate complex technical solutions, strategies and win themes into easily understandable, readable and compelling content. 

    SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 
    The essential functions listed below are representative of the functions that must be performed in order to satisfactorily fulfil the role. Additional functions and duties may be assumed or assigned from time to time. 
    • Order and be able to report status of responses to RFPs/RFIs/RFQs (hereinafter RFPs)
    • Create folders in the Sharepoint repository for each RFP with sub-folders for Response documents and RFP documents;
    • Coordinate a Bid, No-Bid Review with internal stakeholders to comply with client's Sales Cycle;
    • Create a proposal architecture that aligns with the Mandatory and Rated requirements of the RFPs and complies with requirements of the RFPs in terms of structure, style rules and guidelines;
    • Populate the architecture with draft content derived from boiler plate content in the proposals repository and previous proposals;
    • Conduct proposal kick-off and writing assignment meeting to orient the team to the opportunity, approach, plans, and logistics associated with producing a winning proposal and assign writing assignments, reference projects, establish schedule/frequency of bid status meetings;
    • Monitor proposal content produced by proposal team members within the response contained in the Sharepoint folder, including design, writing, graphics, and so on, to ensure quality, compliance and on-time delivery. 
    • Create/write/edit content as may be required to complete a compelling technical proposal.  This may require reviewing previous proposals, consulting with internal SMEs and doing research by which to develop the content.
    • Engage in problem-solving where necessary to address particular issues with proposal content, schedules, technical content. Track and monitor progress on issue resolution. Escalate issues through the proper channels where appropriate to do so. 
    • Lead or facilitate team work sessions or meetings associated with the proposal. These may include meetings regarding strategy or competitive analysis, business solution planning, problem-solving, routine status, and group reviews of proposal. 
    • Monitor procuring agency or entity communications channels (web, etc.) for changes to the procurement requirements or schedule.  Analyze changes; work with management to  determine the appropriate course of action; communicate changes to team. Make corresponding modifications to proposal plans as needed and execute the new plan.
    • Manage proposal design, formatting, graphics development, production, assembly, and QA processes to comply with client's branding strategy for each of the three operating entities. 
    • Coordinate a Deal Review meeting by which the financial proposal is approved for each proposal.
    • Responsible for final production, packaging, and delivery of proposals, including 
    submissions via e-mail and through web portals. 
    • Maintain and update the Sharepoint Proposal Repository and update the Proposal Reporting Dashboard.
    • Adhere to the client's Sales Cycle and bid processes outlined under ISO9001 processes and procedures.
    • Request and coordinate de-brief sessions with procurement authorities for unsuccessful bids and document lessons learned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of this job. 

    Education:   
    - Degree in computer science, engineering or College Diploma in a technical domain related to information technology/management

    Experience:  
    - 5+ years of experience in technical proposal writing and editing in combination with 3+ years technical work experience in the field of IM/IT. 
    • Must have prior experience in developing proposals – writing and editing proposal content, creating compliance matrices. 
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
    • Demonstrable ability to grasp technical concepts and translate to compelling sales proposals. 
    • Awareness and knowledge of technical trends in IM/IT.
    • Demonstrable mastery of the English written language including spelling, composition, and grammar. 
    • Ability to think critically and draw from several resources to create simple, unified, and persuasive documents. 
    • Attention-to-detail with the ability to review and edit proposal content for compliance, clarity, and proper use of terminology. 
    •Strong proofreading and editing skills. 
    • Must have Advanced Microsoft Word skills and have extensive experience with all other Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Visio, Excel and PowerPoint), as well as Adobe Acrobat Professional. 
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
    • Demonstrated ability to multitask with numerous high-priority demands in an intense, deadline-driven environment is a must. 
    • Technical work experience (project or operations) in the IM/IT industry is a definite plus.
